Monsters (Lightbox) Exhibition @ Old Jaffa

Dealing with the subject of "Monsters" caused the artists to question the changing reality and the place of the 'self' in society. Some artworks display personal confrontations depicting domestic and international social challenges. Some artists focused on the COVID-19 pandemic, dealing with the withdrawal and the re-attraction to nature. Other artists took their art to escapism and humour routes, creating aesthetic, sarcastic and charismatic monsters.

“When an artist has an imbalance between beauty and tragedy, or rage, in their sense of self, he/she may likely look inside and find monsters as a way to reconcile the two”. (Guillermo del Toro)
